Just wondering, why would somebody put the temporary tablespace in /tmp where you can just increase the parameter sort_area_size and reap the benefits of sorting in the memory. If sort area in the memory is not enough it will be complemented with the temp tablespace ( which you can put on raw devices to improve performance ).
