oss497 and memory faults

Oracle 7.3.4.3.0
SCO OpenServer 5.0.5
SLS 500a

Installed oss497a and oss600a on a server we are using for Y2K testing. Most Pro*C programs and some reports that were run from a central "runjob" shell script via an Oracle job queue got memory faults and refused to run. The programs and reports would run fine from the command line. The job queue environment and the command line environment are pretty well identical in terms of environment variables. Both oss497a and oss600a were removed and the memory faults went away.

Has anyone run into this problem and solved it without removing the patches?
