[Q] Synching(?) two Oracle databases

I'm not experienced with the Distributed option of Oracle, so while I'm reading the manual for a run-down, does anyone have some explicit info on what might be a way to automate the synchronization of two instances of the exact same database on a LAN?

I'm moving an older development system to a newer machine. The sticking point is that the older development system will be phased out over the next couple of years (I know the world ends in 6 months, just humor me...) but further development will be occurring on the newer

machine.

For the legacy application installed on 97% of the customers machines I need to make sure test data, triggers and procedures are identical on both systems.

If you've done this sort of thing, heard about it or wrote a white paper on
it, your suggestions/opionions/ideas would be appreciated. Something to get the ball rolling for me.
