Therefore, interesting!

I'd guess ( and that's what is is, since i've never wrestled this Oracle eel ) that there
is some low level PL/SQL problem with one or more of the built ins.

If it were me, I would reload

catalog.sql
catproc.sql

and whatever else was appropriate ( catparr, catrep, etc. )

If that didn't work, I would actually do an

oerr ora 4028

and see if the "Action" clause was useful.

Failing that, I would post to the newsgroup, and wait for Tom Kyte to explain why your code can't have an intermediate annotated description....<g>
