dbms_crypto_toolkit question

I am trying to use the encrypt function in the dbms_crypto_toolkit to
encrypt a column of data that will contain user passwords.   Has
anyone had any experience with this?  Better yet does anyone know
where to find documentation on this function?  The Crypto Toolkit
Programmers Guide from Oracle is not much help.
