We recently upgraded to 8i (version 8.0.5) on Solaris 2.6. We encountered several bugs which forced us to downgrade back to our original version, 8.0.5.1.

Our problems were in SQL-Loader, and in the Pro-C and Pro-COBOL pre-compilers.

I recommend that you do NOT go to version 8i, until it becomes more stable. However, version 8.0.5.1 works fairly well.
