Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Pro*C - embedded SQL versues dynamic SQL (performance)
Greetings all,
Are there any significant differences in performance between using embedded SQL and dynamic SQL in Pro*C applications (other than the time taken to build the SQL string)? There is a degree of contention at my site that when using embedded SQL, the query-plans for all statements in the source code are generated when the application starts up, while for dynamic SQL, the plan is generated prior to execution of the dynamically generated statement.
While I'm at it... does anyone understand how the PreparedStatement interface in JDBC is implemented in the native Oracle/JDBC driver?
Regards,
James W.
