It would be rather interesting to compare an 8 way 550 Xeon with 1 or 2M L2 to an 8 or 16 way HP, Sun or DEC box. And you do not necessarily have to run NT on the Intel machine while you are pretty much stuck with proprietary hardware and software for the others except for DEC. BTW we do run Oracle 7 on Sun, HP UX, DEC OSF1, AIX and Intel/NT.
