to mirror in hardware or software

I'm talking with our sysadmin person about mirroring. We
have a choice between mirroring the redo logs in hardware or
software. It seems to me that hardware mirroring would be
faster, and would probably be the way to go. Does anyone
have any thoughts (pro or con) on this? Any caveats that I
should be aware of?
