Hi rave,
Check if u are able to connect from sql*plus 8.0.x. Check if sql*net 2.3.X is installed in your m/c. If not install it. You would see
the directory--- 'network' under 'oracle_home' configure the tnsnames.ora adn try connecting from sql*plus 3.x. You will be able to connect...
