First of all, make sure, that your applications work against O8. The most likely problems are related to new functionality (see migration manual) and some to not fixed bugs. You may expect some problems while relinking pro* code with new libraries. If your primary concern is running supported version of RDBMS consider upgrading to 7.3.4. Error corrections will be possible after 01.01.2000. It may give you some necessary time to safely migrate to O8.
