external user management in LDAP

Can someone please point me to any information about managing user accounts across Oracle Servers, and especially synchronizing with external source such as LDAP? I've been searching the documentation and their www site and found a few hints, but nothing good to go on.

I'm new to Oracle (used to be a Sybase developer) and am involved indirectly in figuring out how to use Oracle at my company. Specifically I'm implementing LDAP directory services on Netscape Directory Server and am searching for a way to manage Oracle users through LDAP or at least synchronize with LDAP. Is this possible? How? Has anyone tried it?

On the Oracle site, I ran across mentions of:

• Oracle Security Services, which seems to be a limited and proprietary implementation of x.500/DAP and x.509 authentication that does not appear to be reasonably compatible with LDAP.
• Net8 Advanced Networking Services as an optional product for managing users and roles outside of Oracle. This looks like the most hopeful, but it only mentions naming adapters for NIS (yp) and NDS (Novell). It doesn't say anything about LDAP in general or Netscape Directory Server in particular.
• Oracle Internet Directory, which is Oracle's implementation of LDAP. Can this accept replicated data from another LDAP server? Does this use standard LDAP communication to allow another LDAP server to be used in its place?
