Can't make db_block size 32k, why?

Hi:

I am trying to set my db_block_size to 32768 but when I try to create the database I get an error saying that value is out of the valid range (max is 16k?). Why would this be? I see examples of people having that set to 32k all over this group?

I have Oracle 8.0.4.1 on Irix.
