SQLNet time problem?

I changed the time on the server this morning (trying to daylight saving sorted out) - now when sysdate is selected via a telnet session the time agrees with the server but if it's done via an application which uses SQLNet (ie SQLPLUS) the time is 1 hour out? In both cases it's the same query - how can this happen? Where is the time being cached?
