It depends if you are talking about normal backups or actual disaster recovery. The former is pretty run of the mill stuff covering failed disks, trashed files etc, the latter is more like the machine room being flooded/on fire etc

So, assuming your current backup/recovery strategy works (you have tested it?), then think out some possible disasters - just what _do_ we do if the machine room blows up. If you have the luxury of a spare machine or a low load machine on another site, then try recovering your live database onto it & setting up all the networking etc so that users can actually connect to it etc. First time we tried it, it took a week! There is just so much that can go wrong, even simple stuff like where you keep the backup tapes, what do you do with the archived redo log files etc.

However if all your machines are in one place, then it is probably time to start researching disaster recovery options as supplied by your hardware vendor (computers in the back of a truck & stuff like that). These options are not cheap, and you still have to figure out how to recover your current setup onto a different machine.
