Backup and Restore in Distributed Environment

In the Oracle documentation, it suggests that there are several methods to recovering distributed database systems.

Our current environment:

Oracle 8.0.5.1.1
20 updatable snapshot sites, 1 master (on wide area network)

Has anyone had any experience with distributed database recovery??

Any information or pointers to additional documentation would be greatly appreciated.
