no, as the version in fact is a date. anyway, that would be a design problem but not something oracle should take care of just in case i had a blonde moment :-)

is that simply a harassment or are there real technical problems involved?

looks somewhat similar to the restrictions for stored functions where one has to use these "everything will be ok"-pragmas.. if one returns results thru out-params of a stored procedure one can wipe the whole db in the meantime. queer logic
