Move datafiles from 7.3.2 to 7.3.4

I need your experiences :

I have 2 instances (on 2 machines) : one 7.3.2 (A) and one 7.3.4. (B) I would like 'move' the entire DB from A to B (migration of an application). The down time (application unavailable) must be as short as possible then I want to avoid export/import because it's a great DB. I tried a procedure :

This seems OK. The DB on B is open without problems and, for test, I created an object (table) on it : OK. I had only problem with export (errors during export). I started the script 'catexp.sql' and now export work again without problems. Due to this very important DB, I would like to be 100% sure of my job.

Questions : is there a 100% compatibility between datafiles 7.3.2 and 7.3.4 (except some diff. in the catalog) ?. Is anyone already tried this 'migration' before ? Is anyone has official information about the way to upgrade 7.3.2 to 7.3.4 (I haven't any books on this). I heard it's mandatory to start other sql files ('catalog.sql' and 'catproc.sql'). Is it true ?

Thanks. Received on Tue Mar 02 1999 - 13:33:26 CST
