Oracle8i exists. It isn't out yet in production. You can sign up at Oracle's OTN site for a copy. There are many differences from Oracle8.0.5 to Oracle8i. Read up on Oracle's main web site, there is plenty of info on Oracle8i.

Yes, you will be able to upgrade, just like always.
