Agents are applications( or services, I 'm not sure since I don't have any NT
servers presently ) that run on the database server...and info on it should be
found in the docs for the Oracle Enterprise Server....at least for Oracle on NT
They are independent of the database itself, so you could operate ( as you are
doing) without them....But, as you mentioned, the OEM's most useful stuff
requires that the Agent be running....
