Express is basically an additional layer between a 'regular' Oracle database and a client application, used for multidimensional analysis. For example, Express is used to feed Oracle Sales Analyzer. In the project I'm currently working on, Express will be populated from an Oracle star schema, which gets its data from an Oracle datawarehouse, which gets its data from mainframe OLTP systems. Sheesh, have a few layers. :)
