While a full export is a great thing to have around, I seen no point in having an offline backup around. What use can it be? The database has been opened since the offline backup, so the data is old, restoring from it would mean loss of data unless you have archived re-do logs to roll forward with.

If you have these archived re-do logs, then why the offline backup? Just use a hot backup and the archived re-do logs.

If I'm missing something here, I'd REALLY like to know (right now).
