Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Oracle 8.0.5 on AIX 4.3 Bizarre install error...
Hi Oraheads...
I'm having some trouble re-linking executables during fresh install. It seems to be complaining that the assembler isn't present. And I don't believe that it is. The question (based on the message below) is "Do I have to have the very expensive IBM assembler installed to install this thing? Can anyone help with this problem?"
...install.log says...
(( OIERR-SYSTEM: make-f ins_rdbms.mk
ORACE_HOME=/usr/oracle/product/8.0.5 ioracle))
...make.log says...
Command: (make 0f ins_rdbms.mk ORACLE_HOME=/usr/oracle/product/8.0.5
ioracle), Out=/usr/oracle/product/8.0.5/orainst/make.log
{
/bin/sh: /bin/as: not found
ar: Afile or directory in the path name does not exist.
ar: 0707-117 The fopen system call failed on config.o.
make: *** [/usr/oracle/product/8.0.5/rdbms/lib/config.o] Error 1
}
Status: 2
I'm generally more of a Solaris person, so if someone could explain to me why AIX requires this, that would be great!
Thanks in advance,
