Contention for redo copy latches

According to the Server Tuning manual (8.0.5) if the ratio of redo latch misses to gets exceeds one per cent then latch contention is affecting database performance.

My ratio for the redo copy latch is 85.97%, so I'd say I've got a serious problem.

The same manual says "it can help to have up to twice as many redo copy latches as CPUs". Well, I've got 8 latches and 4 CPUs.

So what else can I try?

Thanks,
 James
