y2k oracle equivs for informix/sybase

Hello

Does anyone know the informix/sybase equivalents of the follpowing oracle unix commands:

ps -ef|grep smon /* namely to check if database is running svrmgrl
connect internal
sqlplus system/manager

Basically i know nothing re sybase/informix and am looking to find what versions we have for y2k compatibility

any help wud be greatly appreciated
