If I understand you correctly this is a recipe for wholesale disaster. Yes you can create another initSID.ora. And you can create a new database using the command line mode for ORADIM. But if you rename anything I don't want to be anywhere near you.

Why not just create a new tablespace on your existing instance? Create a new schema in the tablespace. Then when you are satisfied everything is fine just drop the old. This has the advantage of not having to do anything dangerous and won't make your DBA or SYSADMIN want to hang you. Which as a DBA I would gladly do if anyone here tried a stunt like this. It also has the advantage of not having to recalculate memory utilization and rewriting all three initSID.ora files.
