  Ok, please ignore my previous message. I fooled with it, and read a little documentation closer, and realized the problem we were having. Our configuration files were fine, it was how we were calling sqlplus. In our tnsnames.ora file, we started with GLDB = (, which specified the alias for the database as GLDB, but when we went to connect, we used @GL, or the server name. When I tried to connect as @GLDB, it worked perfect.

  I figured I'd post it for anyone else having the problem, or any of you that have read the threads, and been boggled. :^}

Thanks again!

   Tim
