calling oracle 8 functions using JDBC

Hello,

I need to know if the Oracle JDBC Driver can handle this situation:

Java code that calls Oracle functions via the JDBC. These functions will return a user-defined data type.

I read that in Oracle 7.3, this can not happen. Does oracle 8 allow functions to return user-defined data types using Java JDBC?

Thanks in Advance
Larry
