newbie question on updateable snapshots

Hi!

I want to build an advanced replication enviornment. As master I need an Oracle 8 Enterprise Server. I want to generate updateable snapshots.
My question now is on which database version of Oracle can I allocate these updateable snapshots? The documentation of Personal Oracle 8 says Personal Oracle 8 is 100 percent compatible with Oracle 8 Enterprise Edition. So can I use Personal Oracle or must I use the enterprise edition?
