I have the opportunity to upgrade my production data server. I currently have four 200 Mhz Pentium Pro cpu's with 1G of RAM. I am running Oracle8 Enterprise Edition. Will I get a speed increase if I upgrade to two 400 Mhz Xeon processors and 2G of RAM or will this actually give me less? Will I be better off with the same amount of memory and four 400 Mhz Xeon processors?

I have a large data warehouse, so I would not be able to fit the entire database in memory with either configuration. My machine can hold a max of 2G of RAM.

Thank you for you opinions?
