Hi,
Since you seem to be stuck with export/import be sure to try the DIRECT=Y option. If it will work for you it is much faster than the default conventional path. To give you an idea I got the following results this morning:
Default (DIRECT=N) 13 minutes 34 seconds
DIRECT=Y 3 minutes 17 seconds
Environmental factors:
Oracle 8.0.5 on Red Hat Linux 5.2
200 MHz Pentium II 96MB RAM 6.2GB Disk
The export file is just about 200MB in size
Not being a fan of export/import (primarily due to performance considerations) I was impressed.
