There is no need to throw in the towel yet! If you know where your files live, you can write your own "create controlfile" statement. After all, you probably know or can find out all the information that would have been in the backed-up-to-trace controlfile script. I posted the section from the Oracle Documentation of how to accomplish this recently on this newsgroup. The article can be accessed at the following URL:
