URGENT : Corrupt logfile, unable to open database

Hello Oracle experts,

I really got a big problem using Oracle 8.0.4.0 Enterprise Edition on NT.

Because of a corrupt logfile the database is unable to open, although it can be mounted...

    SVRMGR> startup;
    ORACLE instance started.

I've tried the following:

• dropping this logfile is not possible, because it's active.
• adding new logfiles has no effect since they won't be used ! Oracle always tries to use the same file...
• switching the logfiles is not possible, because I cannot open the database !!!

Can this be a corruption in the filesystem or is Oracle the cause ??? How can I tell Oracle which logfile to use when starting up ? Any suggestions are *greatly* appreciated.
