Developer checklist/recommendations

Hello:

We have several applications being developed for Oracle 8 on NT, including
the replacement of my current Oracle 7.3.2.1 HPUX application being moved over to NT Oracle 8.

I would like to provide the developers(Java and PL/SQL) with a list of recommendations for sql and developing under Oracle 8. Aside from frequent commits and small transactions, what else should I include in the list of coding recommendations? Has any prepared a checklist along these lines?
