Dear Oracle specialists
I am as a DBA responsible for a couple of RS 6000 AIX and some HP 9000 machines running Oracle 7.3.3.5. (7.3.3.5 patchset applied)
I have the following questions:
I read somewhere that having LOG_BUFFERS > 128 KB on AIX is reducing performance drastically. Is this right ?
There are several problem reports on the Oracle Developer Library CD
(Nov. 1998) that ASYNC_IO=TRUE or DB_WRITERS > 1 are causing problems.
Is that true ?
If this is not true which of these two options is preferable ?
On one machine I somehow managed that the agent is running and can be used with the Oracle Enterprise Manager but on all other machines I had no success at all.
I receive the error
NMS-00007: DBSNMP failed to allocate memory
on some of the machines
On the hpux machines the agent starts and detects the listener but no databases.
Is there a document somewhere which explains step by step how to set up an agent that works or is this a hopeless wish to manage several databases with OEM ?
So many questions ...
With best regards
