Pardon the intrusion.
If anybody has wondered if there are any superior alternatives to JDBC as a means of connecting to Oracle 8? If so, there will be a presentation this Thursday that may shed some light on this issue and more.
Check out the arguments at the next presentation of the Object Developer's Group.
See below:
A technical presentation on distributed transitional middleware and
object/relational databases will be given at JP Morgan in NYC .Thursday
17th. The presentation will begin at 7:00 pm. Refreshments /snacks will be
provided. This presentation is being given by Simon Townsend, Development
Manager for VEOS, ObjectShare (UK).
Registration is mandatory since JP Morgan for security reasons will not allow anybody in which has not been registered. Please register at: http://www.objdev.org/register
Abstract:
Background: The middleware market is vast, fragmented, and growing. IDC
estimates that the market will grow by an annual gross rate of 33% from
$1.27 billion in 1996 to $5.28 billion by the year 2001. Lehman Brothers
expects Object Distributed Transaction processing and message oriented
middleware to represent an addressable market of $2.5 billion.
This session will cover:
Recent trends in the middleware and database markets, looking at the reasons
behind the drive toward distributed transitional middleware and the
emergence of the Object Relational Database.
A technical overview of ObjectShare's product VEOS, discussing how it both
meets the needs for distributed transitional Object middleware and is an
effective environment for Oracle 8's Object Relational Database.
VEOS provides the tools to build N-tier applications quickly and easily
while taking full advantage of the power of Oracle8's Object Relational
functionality. VEOS is an integrated development environment that sits on
top of a scalable distributed transactional architecture, which provides
object support from the client into the Database. It aims to make the task
of delivering such systems an order of magnitude easier than it is today.
VEOS provides:
An N-tier Distributed Architecture
Powerful and easy access to Oracle8 Objects
Enhanced Object functionality on top of Oracle8
Load Balancing and Connection Management
CORBA OTS transactional support across Client and Server integrated to the
database
Role based security and end user authorization
All of the above within an integrated development environment.
