I had a similar problem when trying to step thru the code in debug mode. I went back to a previous version (7.2.2.3) and had no problems. If you are experiencing this problem in debug mode like I was, try putting a DebugBreak() after the olog and just run it to see if you get past the access violation.

If not, try going to an earlier version (You can still connect to later Oracle DBMS') or try Oracle 8.
