name to lock file problem - solaris 7 & Oracle Web App

I'm getting the following error when trying to start the admin (or any) http listener:
Cannot assign name to lock file

System is Solaris 7 with Oracle Web Application Server 3.0. I thought the conflict was due to the default dwhttpd daemon (perhaps they shared the same resource?) that installs with the Solaris 7 but turning it off didn't make a difference.

Does anybody know where the lock file sits or where there is documentation that explains the problem?
Thanks.
