If the applications are particularly write-intensive, it may be appropriate to mirror a pair (for logs) and use RAID 5 for the rest . Of course, this will dedicate 40% of your DASD for fault-tolerance. For most apps, RAID 5 will perform adequately especially with the smaller, ultra-wide disks.
