PRO*C and Redo Log

When performing an INSERT within a PRO*C program, are the redo entries bypassed (no logging)? Someone told it was bypassed but I inuitively believe that an INSERT is a DML statement and CANNOT bypass redo.

We hope to bypass redo to save time.
