Hi Sergei,

 The best way to copy oracle across machines is :-

  1. NFS mount the source machines directory where oracle files exists , in to the destination machine. U need to put the entry on the /etc/fstab or /etc/vfstab depending the unix that u use.
  2. This way u can avoid doing ftp and the files can be copied with out any problem.
