Linux SMP and oracle

Does anyone have any experience with Oracle on a multiprocessor Linux box. I am running on a dual PII/350MHz with 192MB of RAM. The kernel has been recompiled with smp support turned on. Oracle seems to spend most of its time waiting on CPU, even during just a compare. Is there any optimization for dual processors in oracle?
