Hi, I still have problems installing the Oracle 8.0.5 on Linux. I am using
slackware, kernel 2.0.35, the PC has 160M RAM, 520M swap. I have installed
glibc-2.0.7pre6 (from sunsite.unc.edu), and changed those kernel
parameters (such as SEMMNI, SHMMAX, etc...) and recompiled the kernel.
The installation of Oracle halted at the startup database step. The error is:
Error during action 'Running startORCL.sql'.
Command: /home/oracle/product/8.0.5/bin/svrmgrl <<!
@/home/oracle/admin/ORCL/create/startORCL.sql
exit
!
It seemed that something is wrong with svrmgrl. If I exit the orainst and try to start the svrmgrl manually, it displays the version and copyright info and then exits with the message "Segmentation fault".
What is missing here? Thanks in advance.
