We have a system residing in two machines, one for operational use and another one for enquiries and reporting. Some of the tables in the operational database will grow very big ( up to 64 million records after one year); we need to make these tables visible to the users of the enquiries/reporting database and are uncertain whether simple snapshots will be better than replication or even providing a read-only user onto the operational database.

Has anyone got experience of this particular issue?

Thanks in advance.
