Hi colleques,

in the meantime I have observed that the only optimizer mode suitable for general purpose statements in our 7.33 is RULE. The modes CHOOSE, ALL_ROWS and FIRST_ROWS all lead to unacceptable response times. Since we have a number of software packages running on the oracle and we are not able to detect nor even to tune each statement we have decided to choose the robust way. Satisfying our users is more important than playing with inmature technical features.
