It's Monday now, so I guess you're are either dead, or your problem is solved; either way there is not a great deal of point continuing, but contiuning in the face of total pointlessness seems to be where it's at, so...

You didn't say what the engineer did (apart from the normal buggering about for no apparent reason), or what he did it to.

Make sure that you still have all the files you had before. (in $ORACLE_HOME and /usr, and elsewhere, for example check that he didn't remove your non licensed version of ANSI C blaa blaa blaa), Make sure the OS system is working correctly. Bounce the box, if possible, then relink the oracle executables.

(I assume UNIX of some sort).
