Robust Backups

Does anyone know of any software available for automating backups and any regular checks that should be done for an Oracle database? As an example, we use a series of scripts (called simply 'nightly') that run full and incremental backups and do all routine consistency checks for our Sybase dataserver.

Our platform is Sparc Solaris, Oracle 7.3.

Andy

PS The 'nightly' scripts were dowloaded from:

in case anyones interested.
