Well, you've got a full (I take it) hot backup every night, and all the archive logs on tape. In theory, you'd only ever need to do media recovery from the last backup (hot or cold) if you lost a datafile(s). The last day's worth of redo would cover that (which you leave on line to speed recovery). You seem to be keeping the last weeks worth of archived redo online, so everything is OK.

I take it you also switch log files at the end of the hot backups and take both binary and trace backups of your control files at the end of your hot backups? You should be. Make sure you commit these to tape. And take your tape offsite, and consider keeping a copy onsite in a firesafe.

The only other case you have to think about is loss of the server - i.e., the building burns down. You can then only do an incomplete recovery. Think it through. You might want to post archive logs offsite as they are created, and/or run an offsite standby database. This will give you fast intra-day recovery if you need it.

Another point I'd make is build a copy of your db and *test* your backup and recovery procedures - it's good practice for when you need it. And do this on an ongoing basis, not just as a 'one off'.

MotoX.
