split blocks and fractured recovery

If the parameter _log_blocks_during_backup is set to true (default), all block images on the first change to a block will be logged in the redo logs. If this parameter is not enabled, then ORACLE may not be able to recovery from fractured blocks.

I am trying to understand the principal of split blocks and seem to be fine here. But like my statement above mentions, is it true that if your DONT enable _log_blocks_during_backup, and the oracle block size is a multiple of the OS block size, oracle may not be able to recovery from fractured blocks??

Ideas and thoughts on this would be great.

Cheers

Chris
