RAID

We are going to install Oracle 7.3.4 on a new HP server. Operating system is HP-UX10.20. We are wondering if we need to install RAID to our hard drives? Is there anyone who has experience on this? How does RAID affect the performance? Any idea is greatly appreciated! Thank you.
